Stour Valley Path - Weekend Campers

Following a request from a local resident, Councillor Ron Whittaker has brought the matter to the attention of Lawrence Robson and PC Keith Dixon, whose replies are below.

Dear all,

Just to let you know. Lawrence Robson has been in contact and we are in the process of trying to arrange a number of dates for joint patrols. In the mean time both myself and my community support officer, Mike Wheadon will patrol during the relevant times as much as time permits.

I would just ask that if possible these instances are reported at the time they are occuring in order that we stand a better chance of identifying the individuals and can then deal more robustly. I cannot always promise an immediate police response but can assure you that if Mike or myself are on duty we will attend asap! Also, please do use our local safer neighbourhood number as listed below which will come directly to Mike or myself if on duty. If not then the local number of 222222.

Dear Councillor Whittaker,

Thank you for your email relating to the issue of campers on the Stour Valley LNR.

As I mentioned in my previous e-mail, I am aiming to set up some joint patrols with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team officers and as soon as these have been organised, I will let you know.

However, should you or any member of the public need to get hold of a Parks Officer in the mean time, please contact us using the following details:-

Monday to Friday // 8am to 5pm - 01202 451629

Weekends / Bank Holidays / Out of Hours - 01202 451145

Should you have any further issues that do not require immediate attention, please feel free to continue to use our office number (01202 451673) and an officer will get back to you if no one is available at the time of your call.

Finally, I attended the site on Sunday evening and whilst there was evidence of previous camps, there were none on site at the time. I have asked all of our patrol staff to attend at every possible occasion during the Easter period and take action where appropriate.

I hope this has answered your concerns; however should you have any further issues, please contact me.
