Request by Councillor Ron Whittaker for an update

18 October 2009

To: Michael Rowland, Leisure Policy Manager, Bournemouth Council

Michael.

Can you give me any update on the progress of the engagement of the consultants who are undertaking the work to progress this application by the end of this year, thanks, Cllr Ron.

Council Meeting - 15 September 2009

General Question to the Cabinet Member for Resources

“Can this Council have an update as to the progress for the ice rink facility as recommended last December 2008 by the Cabinet as the preferred site for King’s Park? Part of that recommendation was for Officers to prepare a development brief and invite expressions of interest from potential developers and operators and a capital gateway application needed to support an outline application.”

Councillor Ron Whittaker

Reply by the Portfolio Holder for Resources, Cllr John Beesley:

‘Funding has been released by the Executive Gateway Board to support an outline planning application for the ice stadium. The scope of the work required for a Traffic Impact Assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment and PPS6 Planning Assessment has been agreed with the planning team and consultants have been engaged to undertake this work. I anticipate the outline planning application being submitted by the end of December 2009.

As agreed by Cabinet and Council, subject to achievement of an outline planning consent, a development brief will then be prepared and expressions of interest invited from potential developers and operators.’
