Route 41 Bus Service

Dear Councillors

Following re-tendering the 41 bus service Throop/Castlepoint/Boscombe/Boscombe Pier, will be operated from Monday 5th September by Bournemouth Transport - Yellow Buses.

(Wilts and Dorset will continue to operate the route until then, as they have been doing so since the demise of Shamrock)

Please note that Yellow Buses are operating the route under contact to the council. - ie we are paying for it.

There may be some very minor changes to the timetable - as soon as I have copies I will let you know.

Thanks,

Richard Barnes, Public Transport Officer, Planning and Transport, Bournemouth Council

RE: School bus number 78

Richard, thank you not really a very helpful response, you mention the walk to either Portchester or Avonbourne from the Hospital, again one hell of a walk. More so in the winter mouths, take it you are referring to going via Holdenhurst ave, hope we can get some better arrangement in place for the new term.

RE: School bus number 78

Dear Cllr Whittaker

The 78 route was provided on a fully commercial basis by Shamrock and there was no contract between the Council and Shamrock for this route.

As a result there is no funding 'Saved' that can be transferred to provide this route through an alternative operator.

My advice for the rest of this term would be to use route 4b to the hospital - from there it is a walk - though not an unreasonable one to the Schools. Suggested journey to use - Muscliffe Lane - 0748, Ephifany 0750, Arrives Hospital 0804. This may be a bit tight for Avonbourne School opening but there is an earlier bus if necessary.

Alternatively the 81 Yellow 'Your Bus' route serves the southern part of Broadway Lane and Chesildene Drive - to Avonbourne and Portchester - time from Broadway Lane approx 0730.

In the next week I will be having further discussions with Yellow Buses to see how for September some routes can be amended to provide network journeys to cover some of the gaps created by the Shamrock collapse.

Thanks

Richard

School bus number 78

Richard,

Fully appreciate you are likely getting a number of very concerned parents ringing, have had a few parents from Throop regarding the 78 about 7 children catch the school bus, have we any indication if or when a service might become available or is it likely in the new term.

RE: Route 41 - Throop

Richard,

hell this terrible news for those areas that have been betrayed by yellow when they took the decision some years ago to withdraw service 17, Shamrock at lease came forward with a service although nothing to the town centre but at least to Castlepoint, grateful that Dorset /Wilts are to operate a emergency service. Richard will expect this administration to ensure that Throop receives a service at least to castlepoint.
