Works on Stour Valley Way

Dear Councillors

As part of the Local Transport Plan (LTP) "the section of path from Muscliffe arboretum to Berry Hill is to be widened and have an improved surface and drainage. Bournemouth Borough Council Parks and Transportation services teams are working together to deliver a brand new walking/cycling route approximately 1km long.

Stour Valley Way Works Map - Bournemouth - People Before Politics

The works will take approximately 10-14 weeks to complete and will be conducted in 2 phases. Phase 1 will start mid February with fencing being installed in the two fields (please see map) and vegetation removed. During this time there will be machinery working on the site but most will be away from the main walking route. Phase 2 - will be the installation of the new path and its hoped that that will start mid March but it is weather dependant as the site needs to be dry!

During the path construction there will be deliveries in two locations 1) Stour Barn 2) the lay-by adjacent to Wessex Water (Berry Hill) sludge works. The materials will be transported along the route by dumper truck - again there will be heavy machinery on site so care will be needed. The contractors are aware of the number of users on the site and will endeavour to accommodate your needs.

There will be a site compound at the junction near Granby Road car park. This will not impede public use of the surrounding paths.

The area will remain open to the public at all times, although please be aware that there will be heavy machinery in use and therefore some disruption.

Please take extra care when using the path and make sure site operatives know you are there before passing by any working machinery.

Any questions please contact Sophia O'Sullivan - Senior Rights of Way Officer 01202 262060 or 07920 889170 email"

The above text will be communicated with local residents and park users via a letter drop and notices posted on site, this will happen early next week.
