Navitus Bay Development: Public Meeting

Dear Councillor

As you are probably aware, it is expected that in the middle of March this year, Navitus Bay Development Limited will submit a Planning Application for a wind farm in Poole Bay opposite Bournemouth's seafront. At that point the Council intends to make its own representation to the Planning Inspectorate and, given the impact which the development could have on the town, the Council would like to consult with Bournemouth's residents before doing so.

In order to facilitate this consultation, we have organised a public meeting open to all Bournemouth residents and this will take place at the Solent Hall of the Bournemouth International Centre from 2pm to 4.30pm on Saturday 22nd March. The meeting will be chaired by myself and is likely to include input from other Council officers. Residents will get the chance to hear about various aspects relating to the proposal and to have their say.

It is proposed to produce A5 flyers for each ward which the relevant councillors can deliver to their residents. They can also be used as posters.

The wind farm, if it goes ahead, may be extremely significant for our town and when we submit our representation, we would like to ensure it represents the views of Bournemouth residents as best as possible. I encourage you to distribute your flyers as widely as possible to your constituents.

I have also asked Georgia Turner, Corporate Communications Manager to ensure that sufficient attention is given to highlighting the important of the meeting.

Yours sincerely,
Tony Williams, Chief Executive, Bournemouth Borough Council
