Press Release - Fire Station open day goes on tour!

This Sunday (23rd June, 12-4pm) Springbourne Fire Station are taking their kit, fire engines and much more to Churchill Gardens for the Fire Service Fun Day.

Local residents have the opportunity to meet their local fire crews and see some of the methods they use to save lives every day. The event will include displays of firefighting actions such as a chip pan fire display and our new Sprinkler demonstration unit. There will be the opportunity to have a look around the appliances and sign up for a free home safety check.

Simon Chainey, Firefighter at Springbourne and event organiser said: "The event provides a safe, fun, relaxed family vibe where children and adults can come together to experience such things as street performers, live chip pan demonstrations, police cars, circus workshops, Fire Fit challenges as well as a wealth of fire safety knowledge and advice by the Fire Fighters themselves."

He added: "We have booked the sunshine but just in case bring an umbrella and we will see you 12pm Churchill Gardens."

The event has received great support from Bournemouth Borough Council who have waived any fees associated with a public event, allowing DFRS to hold this event at the lowest possible cost.

Councillor Jane Kelly, Cabinet Member for Partnerships and Regeneration, said: "I fully support and look forward to this community event which I hope will encourage residents to come together. We work closely with Dorset Fire and Rescue and are pleased to welcome them to Boscombe on the day and thank them for their support to the Boscombe Regeneration Partnership’s Backing Boscombe campaign."

Churchill Gardens is in the Boscombe area of Bournemouth, use BH1 4ES for the sat nav.
